The 1911 census lists William as a shoemaker, age 34, at house 45 in Queen Street, Magherafelt. His mother was a widow.
William Teaney married Rosanne Nelson on 6th January 1915 in the district of Magherafelt.
William Teaney enlisted in Cookstown.

Private William Teaney was serving with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action on Tuesday 6th February 1917 in the Somme region.
At the time of his death, his wife was living at Meeting Street, Magherafelt.
From the Belfast Newsletter dated 5th March 1917:
Private Teaney, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, killed, was a married man, and his wife resides in Meeting Street, Magherafelt.
In his will, William left all to his wife.
Last Will and Testament of Private William Teaney dated 8th September 1916:
In the event of my death, I give the whole of my property and effects to my wife, Mrs Teaney of Meeting Street, Magherafelt, County Derry.
Private William Teaney has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
