Operation Greenline was a night attack across the Odon Valley. All the companies of the battalion moved up on the night of 14th July 1945 to take up their positions. Casualties were severe, particularly in D (mortar) Company as their bombs exploded on enemy target with great accuracy. This in turn incurred the wrath of the enemy and casualties were high as all the platoons in D Company were concentrated close together because of the narrowness of the valley they crossed. |
