21/12/2022 Andrew Wylie was the oldest son of Robert and Margaret Wylie. Robert George Wylie and Margaret Donaghy were married on 6th July 1875 in the district of Cookstown.
21/12/2022 Andrew Wylie was born in the Moneymore area on 11th November 1875. He was the oldest of eight children. No birth record can be found for Susan.

21/12/2022 Private Andrew Wylie was serving with the 23rd Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers (Tyneside Scottish) when he was killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme on Saturday 1st July 1916
21/12/2022 Private Andrew Wylie has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France. The Thiepval Memorial, the Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, bears the names of more than 72,000 officers and men of the United Kingdom and South African forces who died in the Somme sector before 20 March 1918 and have no known grave. Over 90% of those commemorated died between July and November 1916.
