Thomas Cullen was a son of David and Elizabeth Cullen of Pomeroy. The family later moved to live at 363 Northcross Street, Leadgate, Durham. Thomas enlisted with the Household Cavalry and Cavalry of the Line, at Chester-le-Street, County Durham. At the beginning of December 1917 Thomas was seriously wounded. He was removed to one of the Casualty Clearing Stations situated at Tincourt but died of his wounds on 6th December 1917.

Military records suggest he was born in Pomeroy about 1892, but GRONI has no record of this.
The family moved to Leadgate in County Durham, England. This seems to have happened before the 1901 census, as no record of the family can be found.
