Robert Henry Norris was the son of John Stewart Norris and Louisa Norris. Robert was born 23rd March 1882 in Tamlaghtmore, County Tyrone. His father was a farmer. Robert was a member of Tamlaghtmore L.O.L. 198 and R.B.P. 518. He emigrated to Canada in 1906 and prior to active service he worked as a stoker before enlisting in the 7th Canadian Infantry on 7th November 1914 at Victoria, British Columbia. Private Robert Henry Norris was killed in action when he was struck in the neck by a bullet while returning to his Battalion trench in Belgium on 21st July 1915. He was 33 years old.
Berks Cemetery Extension is located 12.5 kilometres south of Ieper town centre on the N365 leading from Ieper to Mesen, Ploegsteert and on to Armentieres. From Ieper town centre the Rijselsestraat runs from the market square, through the Lille Gate (Rijselpoort) and directly over the crossroads with the Ieper ring road. The road name then changes to the Rijselseweg (N336). 3.5 kilometres along the N336 lies a fork junction with the N365. The N365 which forms the right hand fork leads to the town of Mesen. The cemetery lies 3 kilometres beyond Mesen on the right hand side of the N365 and opposite Hyde Park Corner Royal Berks Cemetery.
