Summary      
Fusilier Hugh O誰eill was born on 23rd January 1922 and was the son of Hugh & Bridget O誰eill, Chapel Street, Cookstown. He had worked as a message boy prior to enlisting with the Inniskillings on the 26th June1940 at Omagh. The 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers were stationed in India prior to the outbreak of World War Two. On 7th / 8th April 1943 Hugh O誰eill was part of a patrol which engaged a Japanese force in Padana Chaung area, Burma. Fusilier O誰eill was killed in action during one of these engagements.

The Rangoon Memorial is situated in Taukkyan War Cemetery, which is about 35 kilometres north of Yangon (formerly Rangoon). The cemetery is on PY1 Road (formerly Prome Road), about 15 kilometres from the airport and can be easily seen from the road.
