Summary
Francis Eccles was the son of Francis and Mary Eccles. He was born on 4th December 1888 in the Dungannon area. The family lived with the family in Derraghadoan, Donaghmore. His father was a farm labourer. Francis Eccles enlisted in Cookstown about 1909. Private Francis Eccles was serving with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers at Gallipoli where he was wounded in action. Private Eccles died of his wounds in hospital in Malta on 3rd August 1915. The CWGC record Private F Eccles as the son of Francis and Mary A Eccles of Carland, Dungannon, County Tyrone.
This Cemetery lies south on the outskirts of the village of Paola and is about 5 kilometres away by road from Valletta. The Cemetery is easily located by following the road signs to the airport. Once in the vicinity of Paola the Cemetery is clearly visible. In the cemetery, the main plot is located by the top gate.
