Summary
Michael Corrigan (Cargan) was the eldest son of Bernard and Sarah Cargan. He was born on 8th June 1885 in Lissan. He was the eldest of seven children. They were a farming family who lived in Dirnan, Lissan. As a young man he emigrated to New Zealand. Michael lived in Utiku. Utiku is situated in the middle of the North Island. It is about 100 kilometres west of Hastings. At the outbreak of the First World War, Michael enlisted with the 2nd Battalion Auckland Regiment, New Zealand Rifle Brigade. Private Michael Corrigan was killed in action in France on 30th March 1918.
Grevillers is a village in the Department of the Pas de Calais, 3 kilometres west of Bapaume. From Bapaume take the RD929 in the direction of Amiens, turn immediately right onto the RD7, where a signpost indicates the cemetery. After 500 metres turn left at junction onto RD29, where a signpost indicates the cemetery which is on the right after a further 50 metres.
