Edward McNamee was born in Cookstown. He was living and working in Scotland when he enlisted with the 9th Battalion Cameronians in Hamilton. Private Edward McNamee was serving with the 9th Battalion of the Scottish Rifles (Cameronians) when he was killed in action on Tuesday 18th July 1916. The 9th Battalion lost eighteen men that day, including Private McNamee, during the fight for High Wood on the Somme.
