Sergeant William Anderson was the son of Samuel Reid and Elizabeth Ann Anderson. He served as an instrument maker with No. 151 Maintenance Unit, Royal Air Force, based at Java. He died from natural causes on 26th January 1942 and was reported buried in Singapore Cemetery. However, all burial records were lost during the Japanese invasion and because it was impossible to identify his grave, Sergeant Anderson’s name is commemorated on Singapore Memorial.
