George Fleck was the son of William and Elizabeth Fleck. George was born about 1917. Flight Engineer Sergeant George Fleck served with the Royal Air Force. Sgt Fleck was on a mission to Bremen in a Lancaster bomber with No. 207 Squadron Syerston. There were no wireless communications received from R5755 from the time of take off. The aircraft failed to return to base. Reports from other Captains of squadron aircraft stated, that the visibility over the target was good and no cloud with fairly light winds. One Captain reported no enemy opposition of any form. It is thought that R5755 had been shot down by Oberfeldwebel Heinz Vinke of 11./NJG2 at 02:50 hrs and had ditched in the Ijsselmeer. George was 25 years old.
