James was a son of Henry and Sarah Woods of Derryganard, Lissan, Cookstown. He enlisted, joining the Labour Corps as 382735 144th Company. He transferred to the Middlesex Regiment and died on 25th November 1919 aged 36.
Les Baraques Military Cemetery will be found on the western side of Calais. It is just off the D940, the road to Sangatte, and CWGC signposts are in place directing visitors to the cemetery.
