Michael Corrigan was a son of Bernard and Sarah Corrigan. He was born about 1885. As a young man he emigrated to New Zealand. At the outbreak of the First World War, Michael enlisted with the 2nd Battalion of the Auckland Regiment, New Zealand Rifle Brigade. Michael was living in Utiku. Utiku is situated in the middle of the North Island. It is about 100 kilometres west of Hastings. Private Michael Corrigan was killed in action in France on 30th March 1918. The CWGC record Private Michael Corrigan as the son of Bernard and Sarah Corrigan, of Dirnan Lissan, Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland.
Grevillers is a village in the Department of the Pas de Calais, 3 kilometres west of Bapaume. From Bapaume take the RD929 in the direction of Amiens, turn immediately right onto the RD7, where a signpost indicates the cemetery. After 500 metres turn left at junction onto RD29, where a signpost indicates the cemetery which is on the right after a further 50 metres.
