Summary      
George Hamilton was born at Lissan, near Cookstown, about 1894. Little is known of George Hamilton’s background. George Hamilton enlisted at Finner Camp, Ballyshannon / Bundoran, County Donegal. Private George Hamilton was serving with the 9th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme on Saturday 1st July 1916 when the battalion attacked the Schwaben Redoubt near Thiepval.
