Private George Hamilton was born at Lissan, County Tyrone and enlisted in the Inniskilling Regiment at Finner Camp, Ballyshannon / Bundoran, County Donegal. He served with the 9th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and is thought to have been killed on the morning of 1st July 1916 when the battalion attacked the Schwaben Redoubt near Thiepval. George Hamilton was reported missing presumed killed in action 1st July 1916.
